In November, 2006, Mission Central began to search for a way to enable persons from the more distant regions of our Conference to participate in the kind of volunteer and service activities experienced in Mechanicsburg without having to travel so far! With the recent increases in fuel costs, a means to accomplish this goal has become even more significant as we seek the means to enable God's people to be His hands and feet in service!
HUBs - places where people could go and experience a smaller version of Mission Central that was directed and managed by people feeling called to expand our outreach - were devised in February, 2007. What we envisioned as a one or two location start has grown beyond our imagined level of interest - putting us way ahead of our intended schedule!
All ages are welcome to participate in this ministry. We work with any individual, organization, or religious denomination. The size of volunteer groups varies depending on available tasks and participants. Usually group sizes range from 5 to 20. We recommend no more than 30 people here at one time unless special arrangements have been made.
Our Volunteers work on a variety of tasks.
If you would like to volunteer at Mission Central, select a date when you would like to visit, then call (717-766-1533) or email (missioncentral@cpcumc.org) us with the size and ages of your group and the type of work you are capable of performing.
SNACK ROOM: We have a snack room that consists of a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, coffee pot and utensils. The room seats about 26 people. We have no food provisions but free drinks are available for volunteers. Restaurants are nearby or you may bring a lunch.
LODGING: For anyone traveling long distances, several local churches are willing to provide accommodations. Motels are nearby.
TOURS: We are happy to give tours at Mission Central. Give us a call (717-766-1533) or email us (missioncentral@cpcumc.org) if you would like to visit and tour our facility.
