Rossville Church of Christ Provides Relief to Flood Victims

ROSSVILLE, Ga. (WRCB) -- The cleanup process is just beginning, but the Rossville Church of Christ is trying to help weather the storm by providing homes with cleaning supplies.

The day started by unloading a truck filled with food, beverages, cleaning supplies and clothes from the Nashville Church of Christ disaster relief in Nashville.

"I think we would have everything that you would need if your house was flooded to get you back started again," said Jason Butcher, Rossville Church of Christ.

And once the truck was unloaded, volunteers and members of the church like Jack James were ready to start delivering the supplies.

It was some much needed relief for Stacy Jones and her husband Bryant. Their East Ridge home had more than a foot of water because of the flooding.

"When I left yesterday morning at 10, it was at my ankles," said Stacy.

It was enough to ruin their floors and destroy their walls.

"So all my sheetrock will have to come out redone again, flooring will have to be done, we came in and took out the carpet, padding, and everything so our floor underneath wouldn't buckle," said Stacy.

But some friendly faces and some helping hands were there to turn things around. Thanks to the Church of Christ, they had everything from bottled water to mops and bleach.

"It takes a load off of us. you know. We don't have to worry about the mold with the bleach; we can spray wipe things down, that kind of thing. We don't have to worry about the contaminants that you have to deal with when something like this happens," said Bryant.

"The joy is on our end, not on our receiving end. The joy is in the giving," said James.

The Rossville Church of Christ had more than $100,000 worth of supplies on their truck, and they'll continue to deliver them as long as they last. They anticipate getting another truck by Friday.
