TALLATOONA HAS PROGRAMS FOR LOW INCOME CLIENTS IN THE COUNTY

Tallatoona CAP, Inc. provides services to individuals and families by removing obstacles and solving problems that block their ability to achieve economic and social independence. Case management provides life skills training, budget counseling, help with resumes, and referrals to local continuing education programs. When necessary, clients are referred to additional educational facilities, life skills training, and/or job search activities consistent with the individual’s employment and life goals.
SSI Advocacy – Through our local office we now offer an SSI Advocacy Program, also known as Georgia Link. Through this program we will help all eligible applicants apply for SSI. Case managers will be able to assist with arranging transportation to and from medical appointments and providing day care, among other services.
Emergency Food Bank – In our local Human Resource Development Center we provide an emergency food bank. The food is available to help someone who has applied for food stamps and has not received them, has a referral to get food or is in an emergency situation. If you or someone you know needs food immediately, please contact our office.
Garden Program – In the spring we distribute seeds and seedlings to eligible applicants to help them start a garden. The elderly are helped the first week of the program, all other ages can then apply.
Distribution of Foods to Families – This program is based on income. Surplus food is available to people in need three to four times a year through the USDA. Program dates will be posted in the newspaper, DFCS, churches and local community agencies and will be announced on local radio stations.
Medical Program — The Indigent Medical Services Program is designed to help low-income clients receive their prescribed medications. Our Advocates work with Pharmaceutical Companies, Physicians and Hospitals to obtain the medications free of charge or at a reduced rate. The medicine is then distributed by the client’s physician office. All ages are eligible.
Medical Equipment and Supplies — Medical Equipment and Supplies are available through your local HRDC office. Free of Charge! Please call your Service Coordinator for information on what is currently available.
Tallatoona CAP, Inc. will take donations of medical equipment and supplies.

Client can not have insurance or Medicaid that covers medicine
