Sat Oct 27 23:29:48 +0000 2012 by LTel:mission: The vision vision for Mercy Chefs was born while R. Gary LeBlanc was leading Operation Blessing’s mobile kitchen on its maiden voyage in the days after Hurricane Katrina. The call to feed people and share the hope of better days to come led him to a point in the midst of this horrific disaster where a passion to provide high quality and professionally prepared meals to victims, volunteers and first responders was birthed. Mercy Chefs was founded 9 months later to bring volunteers and industry professionals together, with the most efficient equipment available, in a way no one had done before.
The call to provide comfort and compassion in disasters dates to Gary’s remembrance as a child in New Orleans of Hurricanes Betsy and Camille. The power of hospitality and a shared meal is a legacy of his Cajun roots and the influence of watching his grandmothers as they fed family, friends and strangers alike. Mercy Chefs is dedicated to the call to go feed people with the evidence of God's love and a message of grace and mercy. -> The vision vision for Mercy Chefs was born while R.

Having just completed a two-week disaster relief effort in Pulaski, VA, serving over 4,000 hot meals, our most readily available chefs are temporarily unavailable. The recent severe weather across the United States has taken hundreds of lives and done immeasurable amounts of damage. YOU CAN HELP.
The need is great, but our commitment and dedication to our calling is undeterred. These continued emergency responses are requiring all available volunteer chefs and rapidly depleting all available reserve funds. Please help us to continue our current efforts and to rebuild our immediate response resources, so that we can be prepared for the next storm sure to come.

Haiti Earthquake - The reports of widespread devastation are overwhelming and the suffering beyond our comprehension. Mercy Chefs is making contact with our relief partners and with friends on the ground in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. It is hard to know what efforts we will take, however we are making every effort to formulate the most appropriate and effective response. Please pray for God's direction and provision as we prepare. We will keep you posted as more information becomes available and plans take shape.
Our two field portable water purification units that will purify up to 10,000 gallons of water daily have been made available on loan to a medical mission team and to a relief team, both on the way to Haiti. Until things are clearly assessed there is little more we can do except to pray and prepare. Please continue to pray for those affected and for provision for those who will respond. From the Desk of:
Gary LeBlanc, Mercy Chefs
Dear Facebok Friends,
A quick update to let you know that our Mercy Chefs team is
closely monitoring Hurricane Sandy which is now expected to
make landfall along the I-95 Northeast corridor.
The storm could impact 65-70 million people, with millions
losing power. Throughout the weekend, I will be in close
contact with state emergency management officials as well as
our ministry partners to ensure that Mercy Chefs can provide
relief as needed to the hardest hit areas.
Tomorrow, we will begin moving Mercy Chefs resources into
Virginia. This will allow us to respond to the earliest
possible impact while putting us within hours of reaching
almost anywhere along the northeast corridor.
If this storm takes the track now projected, we could witness
a very serious emergency event impacting the most densely
populated region in the entire nation. There is even the
possibility of heavy snow on the back side of the storm.
This could result in massive power outages inland as well
as in coastal regions.
BE PREPARED!
If you live along the northeast corridor, I cannot emphasize
enough how important it is to be prepared. Storms of this
magnitude can be extremely dangerous. And once power is lost,
the world changes dramatically. FEMA has many useful resources
posted, including emergency kit checklists. Go here:

What an amazing four years for Mercy Chefs. We have crossed the 100,000 total meal mark and have fed well over 14,000 people in Haiti. As you can imagine Mercy Chefs has grown to the point that that it needs more than part time attention. The door is open and I have answered the call to a full time position with Mercy Chefs. As I take this step of faith I ask for you to step out with me and for your continued financial partnership.
This year we have doubled our domestic response capability. This hurricane season 09 chefs is now upon us and forecast to be very active and destructive. We are ready, but we have been seriously stretched this year. We need your help now so we can continue to respond whenever there is a need.
All of this while we continue our work in Haiti in support of medical and rebuilding missions. We have moved over $85,000 of kitchen equipment into Haiti and have opened a full kitchen in Chambrun. Mercy Chefs has logged over 125 09 chefschef days and will continue support as long as needed. There is great excitement as we move forward. Thank you for making it possible for us to go and feed people who are hurting and in need. Your generous gifts are more important now than they have ever been. -> REMOVED OLD NOTES LTEL 10/27/12:

FACEBOOK POST - (April 2011)
Now, perhaps more than ever, we need your support. Families have been left homeless or without power and are lacking the needed supplies to survive. Too many lives have already been lost. To make a secure donation toward our undeterred commitment to feeding these devastated communities, please visit www.mercychefs.com/donate.
Mercy Chefs is also coordinating relief efforts with church and community-based volunteers in Gloucester, VA, where a tornado took 3 lives last night. Please contact genevieve.leblanc @mercychefs.com for more information.

This hurricane season 09 chefsis now upon us and forecast to be very active and destructive.

From our newsletter:
What an amazing four years for Mercy Chefs. We have crossed the 100,000 total meal mark and have fed well over 14,000 people in Haiti. As you can imagine Mercy Chefs has grown to the point that that it needs more than part time attention. The door is open and I have answered the call to a full time position with Mercy Chefs. As I take this step of faith I ask for you to step out with me and for your continued financial partnership.
This year we have doubled our domestic response capability. This hurricane season 09 chefsis now upon us and forecast to be very active and destructive.

2010 Haiti Earthquake -
Latest News
If you have any contacts in Haiti that you believe we should collaborate with, please get in touch with us at info @mercychefs.com

We need experienced hospitality industry volunteers and we need willing hands with no experience too. Our Mercy Chef’s, Dave VanAbel(Wisconsin), Curt Hencye(Florida), Walter Taylor(Virginia), Herman Mosely(North Carolina) and Debbie Lowe(Georgia) need all sorts of volunteers to join them. We will soon need complete volunteer teams with new Mercy Chefs in North Texas, Florida and Oklahoma.

mission:
The vision vision for Mercy Chefs was born while R.
If you have any contacts in Haiti that you believe we should collaborate with, please get in touch with us at info @mercychefs.com

Your generous gifts are more important now than they have ever been.

mission:
The vision vision for Mercy Chefs was born while R.
