Mission: from their website:

The Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP) manages mental health and substance abuse services for more than 350,000 MassHealth members across the Commonwealth. Working collaboratively with Members, their families, advocates, state agencies, and providers, MBHP has created a community-based system of care that integrates mental health and primary care for Members.

MBHP is committed to ensuring that Members receive clinically appropriate, high quality, accessible health care. To achieve this goal, MBHP has stressed the involvement of consumers and their families to ensure that their needs guide the development of MBHP's programs.

Historical Overview
Established in 1996, the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP) was contracted by MassHealth to manage the mental health and substance abuse services for MassHealth Members who select the Primary Care Clinician (PCC) Plan.

Since its inception, MBHP has improved the delivery and quality of healthcare in Massachusetts through Member-directed initiatives, innovative programs for special needs populations, and effective collaborations with providers.

As a result of this success, MBHP was awarded a second five-year contract that began in October 2001. To support integration of healthcare services, MBHP now also provides quality improvement and network management services for both behavioral health (BH) and primary care clinicians.

Our Members

MBHP provides healthcare services to more than 350,000 Members. Of these, more than half are children 18 or younger, including 20,000 children in the custody of the Commonwealth's Department of Children and Families and Youth Services.

Our Providers

MBHP's behavioral health provider network is considered one of the largest of any health plan in the Commonwealth. The network includes over 1,200 clinics, group practices, inpatient units, and individual practitioners. All share a commitment to advancing the quality of mental health and substance abuse services in Massachusetts.

MBHP's extensive provider network ensures that Members receive care at their preferred practice setting and that providers are able to serve the wide ethnic and cultural diversity included in the Member population.
