The full extent of Tomas' damage to Haiti is yet to be determined. Although the storm did not cause as much damage as it could have caused, the situation remains serious. The agricultural sector is the most impacted; mud slides and floods are exacerbating a situation that was already extremely vulnerable.
GCF's has focused its response on water purification and any type of support that can assist in preventing the spread of Cholera. GCF, as a grass root organization can only provide supplemental support within its means. Therefore, out of the southern villages most impacted by Tomas, Roche-a-Bateau was identified as a community living with no drinkable/potable water. GCF's goal is to provide a fixed water purification system to that community that will produce 20,000 liters of water a day. Such water purification systems cost approximately $6,000 - $8,000. We are working LifeGivingForce, and organization that will provide, install and maintain the unit. To financially contribute to this effort please go to:
GCF works in Southern Haiti, in the district of Les Cayes, a very populous and underserved rural area with some of the country's worst health indicators. GCF serves a catchment area of approximately 600,000 people through yearly health missions from the United States. It uses the local health system and collaborates with two local hospitals to provide supplemental surgical and preventive care to an average of 3,000 patients a year. From 1999 through 2010, the medical missions tendered to nearly 20,000 rural families. In addition, GCF has recently found it increasingly necessary to contribute to relief efforts in Haiti and did so for both earthquake rapid response period as well as the current Cholera Outbreak that is dangerously spreading across the country.
Within weeks of the devastating January 12, 2010 earthquake, in addition to operating the core Mobile Clinic, GCF rotated over 100 medical volunteers over a four weeks period, in Port-au-Prince and its surrounding town to offer much needed health and wound care to victims in tent cities and remote towns.

I'll answer to the best of my ability. I can research the unanswered questions to provide an answer at a later date.
Let me know if you have any other questions or need further clarifications.
I've been leading Mobile clinic teams in Les Cayes since 2000. Currently I am deploying my volunteers to JP/HRO. If the situation deteriorates in Les Cayes, I will divert our resources to Les Cayes and would welcome joining forces with HEAS.
Let's stay in touch!
Thanks for all that you do!
Regards,
Cosy C. Joseph
