Mercy Chefs Response to Hurricane Isaac -
Hurricane Isaac made landfall on August 27th and Mercy Chefs responded immediately with their kitchens headed to these flooded areas on August 28th, 2012.
Hurricane Isaac from its beginning proved to be a trickster storm causing damage not only to its victims but also to Mercy Chefs however Mercy Chefs pressed on and was able to get to its first areas within days of the storm hitting.
One kitchen arrived in Kenner Louisiana serving the community while the other kitchen pressed on to Slidell, Louisiana. All in all Mercy Chefs in these two areas served over 10,000 hot meals.
Within days of arriving to Kenner and Slidell Mercy Chefs again set up a third area in Baton Rouge Louisiana to help feed people. By Wednesday September 5th Mercy Chefs had relocated its efforts to LaPlace Louisiana and by that evening served over 5000 people in need.
