---------------------------------------
The mission of The Commonwealth Humane Society is to provide for the welfare, shelter and adoption of homeless cats and kittens, dogs and puppies; to promote the responsible care of companion animals; and to actively promote spaying and neutering as the most humane means of animal control. While we previously focused on rescuing cats and kittens, we now also assist homeless dogs and puppies.
Commonwealth Humane Society's program expenses are funded by adoption fees, by donations from the general public and modest sums from organizations like Petco, PetSmart and local businesses.

Dear Rescue Supporters and Friends
You are all hero’s, and first and foremost I want to thank all of you that gave, and gave, and gave again helping meet the dire needs of the animals in NY, the ones hardest hit.
Thanks to you and people like you, we delivered over 50,000 pounds of supplies, two large trucks full, filled with urgently needed food and supplies. This included more than 25 gas powered cooking stoves, three new large generators, hand warmers, human and animal food, and water, lots of water.
The second truck, driven by Our team member and colleague, Denise Painter, started in South Carolina, and after many stops along the way delivered a second full load to Bayshore, Long island. POSH made no attempt to keep the supplies, but rather open handedly gave wherever the need was seen. Thus together, we were able to help a number of rescues, many of which had nowhere else to turn, and whose need was considerable. They included:
Bobbie and The Strays
Anarchy Animal Rescue
All About Spay and neuter
Hempstead Animal Shelter
Canine Counsel
Shelli's Sanctuary
New Leash Animal Rescue
New Beginnings
Four Paws Sake
Feral Cat Rockaways
Long Beach Humane Society
Sayreville Animal Shelter
Rock Hill Shelter
Hamptons Hurricane Release Fund
Urgent Death Row dogs
Brooklyn Animal Care and Control
Manhattan Animal Care and Control
Shale Mountain Rescue
Ridgeback Rescue
Heavenly Angels

Phase Two ++
Now we are moving forward with phase two of the operation and planning multiple new transports of the much needed supplies. This part of Phase two is to include others, willing and able to drop off supplies directly to Bayshore Long Island, NY. We have a specific location ready to accept donations. Those of you that would like to bring supplies directly to where the need is greatest, please contact me and I will give you the address to make deliveries. The POSH contact is Mellie McClellan at 1-631.383.8903. Due to phone problems in NY, personally, I find it easier to use Text Messages or Facebook. Another part of this phase is for us to work with manufacturers and distributors and have material drop shipped to Bayshore, LI,
Phase Three:
This is the biggest and most important portion of this rescue and relief effort and is aimed at placing as much as possible right into the hands of those that need it most. Mellie and the POSH team has identified additional rescues, fosters, and animals families that need help the most. Working with the smaller and less well organized groups, we have had food and supplies delivered door to door, in fact directly at their front door.
A very big part of this phase is the boarding of desperate animals in healthy clean kennels, and foster homes, and for this we ask that you consider a monetary donation to our “Donate” button on our website www.humane.pro This is no small matter and we are already paying large kennel fees to keep as many animals as possible of the Euthanasia lists ate the NY area shelters. Given that many of the animals have medical issues, like Kennel Cough, this is a critical issue as the shelters do not have the resources to keep and treat sick animals.
Items still very much in need
1. Dog and Cat Dry Food
2. Dog and Cat Wet Food
3. Flash Lights and Batteries
4. Paper Towels
5. Water Proof Dog Houses
6. Tarps, Plastic Drop Cloths & Shower Curtains
7. Rope
8. Candles
All donations will be allocated “For the Animals in New York”, and they will get every cent.
We will issue IRS donation letters to all donors and since we are a recognized 501C3 you may deduct your donation to the full extent of the tax laws.
Anyone seeking more information and especially anyone willing to help drive a load of donations upto Long Island, please call me directly at 703.568.3600, or better yet send me an e-mail to Chris.Haslam@Humane.Pro or Info@humane.Pro or even my personal e-mail Chris.Haslam@Cox.Net
Those that use face book, please place a link onto your page explaining what is needed and how your friends can help.
For those of you that wish to be deleted from this mailing list, please click on Unsubscribe@Humane.Pro , we will do our very best to keep you off all future lists and e-mail distributions. Thank You

There are rescues in Staten island, Long Island and new Jersey that have to live and serve the animals they care for in wet, freezing cold conditions. Conditions without heat and light, with no dry food for the animals and no end in sight. The normal sources of food and supplies are shut down and without power. The poor animals look to us in the rescue community to provide for their needs in their time of desperate plight. Many of these people could just abandon their animals and go to human rescue shelters, where they can find warmth and comfort. BUT NO, like all real rescues they stay with their animals and fight to help them survive. Providing what food they can, loving on the animals, and caring for their needs and also reaching out to other rescues and foster that like them have chosen to make their stand for the animals they love so very much. This may well be the rescue communities “Finest Hour”.
Commonwealth Humane and its supporters, like many others are stepping into the breach, and will undertake a mercy run this coming Thursday the 8th of November, but we cannot do it alone, and we need your help.
We have a large van and trailer being loaded with warm blankets, dog and cat food, and other supplies that are so desperately needed.
Money is not much good to the folks in NY, since they have nowhere to spend it. Therefore any and all monetary donations will be converted into food, fuel, and other much needed supplies and every last cent will be given to them. They are telling us what they need most and we will purchase whatever items they need.
For those too far from NVA to be able to deliver the supplies you may consider a monetary donation to our “Donate” button on our websitewww.humane.pro
Please indicate your donation “For the Animals in New York”, and they will get every cent.
We will issue IRS donation letters to all donors and since we are a recognized 501C3 you may deduct your donation to the full extent of the tax laws.
