notes: We would like to thank everyone who donates to the UDJ Food Bank Fund Drive and to the Community Center throughout the year. The drive is fast approaching again. All of your support will enable us to keep providing for the families in need this year. Your support is very appreciated. This summer, we celebrated 36 Years of service to our ever-changing community. The UCC has become the community's agent for helping thousands of people in this area to meet urgent needs and develop self-sufficiency. We work in partnership with many local agencies to address the causes and effects of poverty and other forms of distress. We provide assistance to members of the Ukiah and Mendocino Coast communities. As a result of our affiliation with the Coast we are now collectively known as the "Community Resource Centers of Mendocino County" but continue to do business as the Ukiah Community Center. While the UCC began with a mission enriching personal and community life, its programs have increasingly been driven by the pressures of poverty. Our mission translates into saved lives and changed lives. Our mission is "Providing Community Assistance to meet urgent needs and promote self-sufficiency. We are striving to end hunger and homelessness in Mendocino County." The number of people seeking food, shelter, and related support has exploded. The Food Bank now serves 3,000 people onsite and another 2,500 through 12 remote locations and 3 pantries around Mendocino County. We are a non-profit organization that offers a combination of temporary assistance, information and referrals, and supportive programs. We help people develop solutions to the challenges of crisis and poverty. Our services include a Day Shelter, food aid, emergency housing, crisis intervention, case management, and referral to community services. The Coast Community Center is the gateway to homeless services and support network on the coast. The goal of the Coast Community Center Program is to help clients move from homelessness to permanent housing while also addressing their personal barriers and disabilities. The Coast Community Center offers life skills classes, benefits counseling, and referrals and information for emergency shelter and other services. In addition to 6 transitional housing facilities for people moving out of homelessness (combined with intensive case management), they maintain a permanent supportive housing for three people coping with mental challenges. The Center works closely with Hospitality House, currently the only Coastal Emergency Shelter, where most clients stay while participating in these programs. It also collaborates with most social agencies in the community.
