Teen Korps
Kids Korps USA encourages motivated and committed young people, ages 12-18, to start their own Teen Korps Chapters. In order to run a successful chapter, a young person must agree to commit a substantial amount of their time and energy to managing their chapter members, organizing service projects, working closely with adult advisors/ co-leaders and reporting chapter projects through communication with the Kids Korps USA Office.

Basic Chapter Requirements:

1. Find a minimum of 3 teens (ages 12-18) that will run your chapter. Chapters can be started at a school, community center, or religious institution

2. Vote on chapter leadership positions: President, Secretary and Treasurer

3. Vote on additional positions if needed: Vice-President, Membership Director, Class Reps, etc.

4. Select 3 adults (parents/guardians) who will be the Parent Advisors/Adult Chapter Leaders

5. Make an appointment with your school principal, religious or community service director to get approval for your Teen Korps chapter

6. Attend a Kids Korps Chapter Leader Training

7. Have all adults (those over 18) who will work with your chapter contact the Kids Korps USA office to complete a Background and Fingerprint Clearance to work with youth.

8. Find an advisor within your school (i.e. teacher), community center (i.e. community service director) or religious institution (i.e. rabbi/pastor) to help you schedule Teen Korps activities

9. Decide with the adult advisors if you need to collect chapter membership dues. There is a $20 required national membership fee, but chapters can decide to include additional chapter dues that help to cover supplies, refreshments, etc. Treasurer must monitor all funds

10. Plan a membership drive during the months of September and October

11. Vote on a meeting schedule that is convenient for the majority of the members.

12. Plan a minimum of 4 Service Projects per year.

13. Manage the finances of the Chapter including: dues, fundraising, account reporting, etc.

14. Communicate regularly with the Kids Korps USA office about your projects, and contact us with any questions, comments, or suggestions

As many schools and universities now require community service, Kids Korps help you to meet your graduation requirements
All Teen Korps members are eligible to participate in both Teen Korps and Kids Korps service projects

Improve your advocacy and team-building skills
Lead service projects for younger Kids Korps members as a Teen Leader and develop your leadership skills
