Providing individual household grants

With the initial cleanup phase complete, and FEMA's commitment to provide funds to individuals, Medical Teams International discussed "next steps" with community leaders, Red Cross representatives, fire stations and church partners. Together we agreed that Medical Teams International will serve best by providing small financial grants to people for household needs, serving as a bridge while they wait for FEMA funds to arrive.

“Our biggest concern is the next few weeks when people are waiting for their FEMA relief funds to be processed," said one pastor in Centralia. "Although there is a commitment by FEMA to work quickly, we are realistically looking at two weeks. This small grant program is just what is needed.”
