From the SCCF Website/Press Release:

GREENSBURG FUTURE FUND ESTABLISHED

Pratt elementary school students Hazen and Sevren Hance are among
the first contributors to a new Greensburg rebuilding fund
established at the South Central Community Foundation. The 8-year
old third grader and 6-year-old kindergartener contributed $60 for
recess toys for the children of Greensburg , along with their
parents Robin and Evan Hance, Pratt.

“We have established the Greensburg Future Fund for the purpose of
helping Greensburg rebuild their community,” said Jack Galle, chairman
of the SCCF Board of Directors. “We have received numerous inquiries
from individuals and organizations about providing donations for
Greensburg .

"We recognize that many organizations are providing disaster relief
for Greensburg ,” Galle added. “However, this fund is different because
it is designed to help the community rebuild. This will be a long and
painful process. Kansans want to help their neighbors, and we believe
this fund will provide a vehicle for all of us to stand by our friends
at Greensburg as they rebuild their town, their schools, their
livelihoods and their way of life.”

SCCF is a community foundation whose seven-county area includes Kiowa
County . SCCF Executive Director Denise Unruh said the Greensburg
Future Fund is a "pass through" fund, and 100 percent of the donated
dollars would go to Greensburg projects.

Checks should be made payable to "South Central Community Foundation"
with a memo to "Greensburg Future Fund.” Donors can earmark the
contributions for "education,” "health care" or "community rebuilding.”
The mailing address is:

South Central Community Foundation
P.O. Box 8624
Pratt, KS 67124

Donations are eligible for charitable income tax deductions,
Unruh said.

Disaster relief dollars should be sent directly to the American Red
Cross, Salvation Army and similar programs, Unruh said. The Greensburg
Future Fund is designed for community rebuilding.

“The SCCF board recognizes there are also many rural families along
the path of the tornado’s destruction who will need assistance,”
Unruh added. “Our foundation includes other counties affected by the
weekend storms, including Stafford County and northwest Pratt County.
We are still looking for ideas about how best to help our rural
neighbors.”

“Another option within SCCF is to make contributions to the endowed
funds for Kiowa County , Stafford County and Pratt County , where
the principal is invested and the earnings are granted each year,”
Unruh said. Donations to these funds are matched by the Kansas
Health Foundation at the rate of one dollar for every two dollars
donated, Unruh said.

What Greensburg Teachers Need

Kansas National Education Association is among many organizations
working to provide support and services. When Greensburg is ready,
KNEA will be donating books from the KNEA Reading Circle Catalogue.
Meanwhile, teacher leaders from Enterprise, Alabama, have offered
their assistance. NEA has also offered help.

Greensburg plans to start school in mid-August regardless of how
many are living in Greensburg at the time. The district is planning
to bus displaced students and staff to Greensburg from Pratt, Bucklin,
Kinsley and Coldwater. During the faculty meeting on the last day of
school in May, Superintendent Darin Headrick thanked the staff for
their courage. "The future will be fun," he said. "It's not fun
today, but it's going to be great." New buildings are slated to be
moved in by mid-July.

Please do not send anything to Greensburg at this time. They do
not have the storage capacity for school supplies, clothing,
etc. Kansas National Education Association is working with
school officials and will post a list of needed school supplies
and curricula. Officials won’t be able to determine what is
needed or accept shipments until at least July. KNEA is working
with area teachers/administrators to find a location and a
distribution process. Specific school needs will be announced at
the appropriate time.

A fund for the SCHOOL DISTRICT to assist staff and students has been
created. Checks should be made payable to "South Central Community
Foundation" with a memo to "Greensburg Future Fund.” Donors can
earmark the contributions for "education” or for specific school
needs such as art supplies or textbooks. Donations are eligible
for charitable income tax deduction.

KNEA is collecting notes and letters to students and staff. Please
specify grade or subject area, if preferred. Email:

South Central Community Foundation

The South Central Community Foundation has established the
Greensburg Future Fund to raise money for the rebuilding
of the community. The idea for the fund in part came from
two Pratt children, Hazen and Sevren Hance, who wanted to
donate money for the purchase of playground equipment for
Greensburg students, said Porter Loomis, president of the
Peoples Bank in Pratt. Donations to the fund can be made by
mail to:

Greensburg Future Fund,
South Central Community Foundation
P.O. Box 8624, Pratt, KS 67124

For more information, call foundation executive director:
Denise Unruh at 620-672-7929.

From the Staff at USD422/Greensburg High School website:

Greensburg Future Fund Established
by Staff

May 08, 2007

A fund has been set up (should be open by noon on May 8,
2007) to help with the disaster in Greensburg. After many
calls and offers of help and donations for the school, we
have set up a fund through South Central Community
Foundation. The fund is called the Greensburg Future Fund
and will allow people to donate towards the future of
education in Greensburg, as well as health and community
rebuild.

If you have any questions about this fund or would like to
make a donation, please contact Denise Unruh at 620-672-7929.
