In April, Gifts In Kind International changed its name to Good360.
What is Good360?
Good360 is an online donation marketplace that is professionally managed by Gifts In Kind International. This website connects nonprofit organizations with the products they need and helps businesses efficiently donate their goods to qualified nonprofits who are doing good in the community.
What happened to Gifts In Kind International?
Gifts In Kind International continues to operate as a national nonprofit organization that works to provide product donations to nonprofit organizations. The nonprofit organization professionally manages Good360, an innovative new tool that allows the organization to serve more nonprofits and more businesses than ever before.
What does Good360 offer for nonprofits, now and later this year?
The current Good360 online platform allows qualified nonprofits:
• register online to be part of the Good360 nonprofit network,
• to view daily donations that are available in their neighborhoods via a real-time mapping feature,
• request product donations from warehouse locations around the country,
• partner with neighborhood retail stores quickly and easily online,
• receive notifications via email, RSS feed, or Twitter about new donations that become available in your community,
• request a variety of products without filling out multiple applications, and
• register your product needs so that we can work to make sure we have what your nonprofit needs,
• the ability to view online any restrictions the donor may have placed on the product (for example, geographic areas that cannot receive the product, types of organizations or specific uses that the donation is intended for, and more).
New features to be offered for nonprofits in 2011 include:
• An online product needs assessment tool that guides you through key questions about your organization, staff and programs to help us understand your product needs,
• The ability to create a wish list of the products you want from Good360’s inventory,
• An online fundraising tool that will allow you to quickly send your wish list to those in your community who can help cover the shipping and handling costs,
• A tool to build your nonprofit profile so that corporate donors and individual givers can hear about the good work your organization is doing to help people in need.

I also got the idea that there's some fancy footwork relative to how gifts are "accounted for", and how the partner orgs "take credit" for some of this work in their grant applications. That's all hearsay, though. We tried to partner with them to move some stuff and unless we donated it "to" them first or something like that, or unless we were affiliated with some big corporation (to get press?), they weren't able to help.
Oops...I just found the reference to the United Way. If you look under the state directory for where you can get some of these donations, all of the United Way local offices are listed! -> Someone told me that this group is closely affiliated with the United Way, and yet I don't see that at their website. Dayle: I looked thru the site.... donations(corp) don't have to PAY but they ask for a donation..
I found the list of offices in the US.
In Louisiana.... Angie is not listed! They remind me of World Vision!
