YouthBuild AmeriCorps Gulfport

After rebuilding over 100 homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina though the YouthBuild AmeriCorps Rebuilding Project, YouthBuild USA helped to establish a permanent YouthBuild AmeriCorps program in Gulfport, Mississippi. The YouthBuild AmeriCorps Gulfport program serves the Gulf Coast community and engages Gulfport youth in the reconstruction of their community, as well as their own lives.

The YouthBuild Gulfport program provides 35 low-income, out-of-school, out-of-work young people with the opportunity to earn their GEDs, gain hands-on construction experience, receive a living allowance while learning, and obtain an AmeriCorps education award for post-secondary schooling.

TheYouthBuild AmeriCorps Gulfport program is funded by the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Services.
