Day of Action
Saturday, June 19
The United Way Volunteer Center is recruiting volunteers to take action on the third annual Day of Action, June 19, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Families and groups are encouraged to participate in this year’s event which is focused on debris removal left from the damaging May tornados and hail storm in Oklahoma County.
Because volunteers will be working directly with families affected by the storms, all volunteers are required to be credentialed. All interested volunteers, who are not already credentialed through a reputable disaster organization, will need to complete a background check for $4. In addition, all volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian agree to the release of liability, however minors do not need to complete a background check, rather a parent or guardian must remain with the minor at all times.
Volunteers interested in participating in Day of Action can register now. Once registered, volunteers will be contacted with further information about a meeting location, background checks, and any further instruction for Saturday’s event.
The debris removal sites have already been determined through the case management process and volunteers will be assigned accordingly.
