Mission: Mission
At the request of local religious communities, the North Carolina Interfaith Disaster Response (NCIDR) assists their efforts before, during and after a disaster occurs.

Our emphasis is on long term relief, and supporting the administration of interfaith organizations working on recovery. The NCIDR is non-sectarian and seeks to work with all interfaith organizations involved with disaster relief and recovery.

Our Vision
During any type of disaster the local religious community finds itself overwhelmed by damage. It is a time when people wonder about God's love. Unless the religious community responds effectively, the witness to God's love can be lost. We believe that the time of crisis is the best time for the religious community to demonstrate the reality of God's love.

Our Mission
To encourage members of local religious communities to serve harmoniously and effectively in disaster response.

To prepare for and respond to disaster needs beyond local capabilities.

To work in the emergency, immediate, and long term phases of disasters.

To act as a liaison between religious, volunteer and state responses.

To cooperate with all local, state, and federal efforts.

To act as a receiving and disbursing agent for disaster funds.

Our Connections
The NCIDR is a member of the North Carolina State Emergency Response Team (SERT). This allows early access to disaster sites. It provides local religious organizations an immediate point of contact to work with all relief agencies coming into the community. We also provide direct access to the State Emergency Operations Center. This allows direct coordination with the leadership of all state and volunteer agencies.
