notes: The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast has provided programs to over 2,765 children ages 5-18 in temporary Clubs housed at school sites since Katrina wiped out our entire organization’s infrastructure. In addition, we have provided 3,504 children with outreach programs at schools during the day, in churches, and in other venues where children gather. The staff stepped up to the challenge because we know our children need us now more than ever. The concern is that school age children’s issues do not seem to be on the radar screen in the local renewal and recovery process. We believe as we rebuild the coast we must build our children.
